Moomin products are as popular now as they were when they were originally created in the 1950s, some of them retain the charm of the original illustrations by Tove Jansson.

I was visiting Olga and Markku’s wonderful café “Kuninkaan Lampi” . It was open for the “Loviisan Wanhat Talot” event. As usual… nice and relaxing atmosphere…..
I really love the blue furniture at the garden.

Helsinki Design Week 2010

From 26 Augh to 5 Sept 2010 it takes place in Helsinki ( that will the World Designt Capital 2012 ) the “”Helsinki Desgin Week“” offering visitors exhibitions, seminars, workshops, fashion shows and shopping experiences, as well as open days in private homes, public buildings and design studios.
Some of the studios that will be open to the visitors some days are:
Jenni Rope Illustrations, paints, books, drawings….I would really like to visit her studio…
Muovo, Dressing up accessories, useful products for every home, products for pets…
Pentagondesign Designs for everyday needs.
Selkifabrik Hats and scarves designed an d produced by combining traditional techniques with modern shapes and colors. (They can also design a unique pattern just for you!!).
Secto Design Wooden lamps designed by interior architect Seppo Koho. They are amazing!

Felt crafts Pyhtää market, Finlandia.
.After visiting the market at Pyhtää I visited a totally different place with a completely different atmosphere, the Bonga Castle in Loviisa, where the owners Riita Nelimarkka y Jaakko Seeck, both artists, organized a beautiful party.
The Bonga castle is just a magic place. Most of the surface of the building is an art gallery full of the light and vibrant colors Riita Nelimarkka uses in her wonderful works: textil art, pictures, drawings …

Next weekend 28-29/08/2010 Loviisa celebrates the event “Loviisan Wanhat Talot”. For the event the doors of old wooden houses, over 100 years old, are open to visitors to see and enjoy the traditional Finnish architecture and interior decoration.. ( some of the houses have been featured in national decoration magazines)
