I post today some photos of the hand-printed textiles of Kauniste , a young Finnish company based in Helsinki. Their designs , by Leena Kisonen and Matti Pikkujämsä, are inspired by the Finnish kitchen linens from 60′s and 70′ s.

Yesterday I went to the opening of Leena and Taisto’s small, cozy and unique Café “Tuhannen Tuskan Kahvila” placed where the stables of their beautiful wooden house, Liisantalo, were formerly. The building, one of the” Old Houses” (“Vanhat Talot “) of Loviisa, is a traditional Finnish wooden house restored by them with lots of work and love…
And, I met there some common friends. We all enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere, Leena’s pastries and Taisto’s art works…

“Maja” has been selected to the Finest Finnish Books 2008 collection by the Finnish Book Arts Committee.
The Graphic design, illustration, jacket and binding design of the book .. by Jussi Karjalainen.
